Leaving Netflix in December 2022: 3 Exciting Thrillers You Can't Miss

Despite increasing competition, Netflix has continued to set the benchmark for streaming movie content with its vast library of licensed movies and original features.

The platform's list of available titles changes every month, with Netflix making room for new Netflix movies that necessarily say goodbye to old ones just as often. In December, it's a trio of star-studded thrillers in the firing line, all of which have earned a spot on our list of the best Netflix movies at one point or another.

The three movies we've selected below will be leaving the US version of Netflix on December 1st, so you have until November 30th to watch them.

Ocean's Eleven (2001)

A remake of the 1960 Rat Pack film of the same name, Steven Soderbergh's Ocean's Eleven stars George Clooney as a seasoned but stylish criminal who recruits 10 former colleagues to pull off a €160 million heist at a New York casino. Las Vegas. Brad Pitt, Matt Damon and Julia Roberts also appear alongside Hollywood veterans Carl Reiner and Elliott Gould in the cast of the film, which one can only imagine would cost an infinitely larger sum in 2022.

Ocean's Eleven is a relatively tame thriller compared to the other two movies on this list (for example, you're unlikely to sweat from fear), but its pacing is spot on and its ending remains timeless. The film's sequels, Ocean's Thirteen and Ocean's Twelve, will also leave Netflix on December 1.

Guarantee (2004)

Tom Cruise como Vincent and Colateral

Judging by his recent appearances in movies like Top Gun: Maverick and Mission: Impossible, you'd be forgiven for thinking that Tom Cruise can only play action heroes. But in Collateral, director Michael Mann's underrated neo-noir thriller, the actor abandons his usual Hollywood charm for the uncomfortable threat of a ruthless killer.

Cruise stars as Vincent, a silver-haired hit man who gets more than he bargains for when he decides to take LA cab driver Max (Jamie Foxx) hostage for a night of "working" from the location. Heat is widely (and rightly) considered by many to be Mann's best film, but with Collateral, the director returned to the same stylized grit for which his 1995 masterpiece was so famous. Come for Cruise's silver hairdo, stay for the film's frenetic nightclub shootout and ultra-tense jazzy chatter.

The Hurt Locker (2008)

Kathryn Bigelow's gripping bomb disposal thriller The Hurt Locker returned to Netflix in June to take its place among the best war movies on the platform. But just as quickly as it came, the movie is headed out the door again in December. Winner of the Best Picture Award in 2008, this film follows a group of EOD soldiers who, while fighting in the Iraq war, find themselves under intense psychological stress.

The Hurt Locker stars Marvel regulars Jeremy Renner and Anthony Mackie (here's how to watch the Marvel movies in order, if you're interested) along with Ralph Fiennes and Guy Pearce, and the film was recently selected for storage in the USA. National Film Registry for being "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant." Yes, it's really good, and it's as exciting as thrillers.
