Ericsson's proposed €6.200 billion acquisition (opens in a new tab) of cloud-based communications specialist Vonage has been delayed due to an investigation by the US Committee on Foreign Investment.

The Swedish telecoms equipment giant had hoped to close the deal in the first half of 2022, but now expects the deal to close next month. He added that he was working closely with the authorities and had no reason to believe there would be any complications.

"The merger has met all other US and foreign regulatory approval requirements, and the parties are working to complete the regulatory process as quickly as possible," it said.

"Ericsson and Vonage remain fully committed to this transaction and are working to close before the end of July 2022."
